Livingston Ramblers has 3 distinct walking groups.

  1. The Wednesday Wander – walks take place on most Wednesdays throughout the year commencing at 10am. These are very social walks, with little in the way of climbing and are generally around 5/6 miles.

  1. The Saturday Challenge – walks take place most Saturdays. Starting times vary so check out the walking programme for the correct information. Most walks are challenging with Munros and Corbetts to the fore. There may be severe ascents and descents and specialized equipment might be necessary from time to time.

  1. The Sunday Venture – all walks start at 8am unless otherwise stated. Walks most Sundays. Range between 7 and 13 miles. Wide variety of walks e.g. along river banks, through valleys or forests, hill climbs and coastal rambles. Most walks are followed by a visit to a local hostelry or tearoom for a meal or snack.

There are also some weekends away, details of which are to be found in the walking programme.

WHERE DO WE MEET?

All walks start from Livingston North Railway Station (top car park).

WHAT DO I NEED?

Walking boots, warm and windproof clothing, waterproof jacket and trousers, hat and gloves. Gaiters can be useful and walking stick(s) can help prevent painful knees.

Packed lunch and sufficient drinks. Take plenty of water.

Always bring a change of footwear to keep cars clean.

WHAT WILL IT COST ME?

Cars are used for most walks. A standard mileage charge is applied and the cost is split equally between all the participants including car drivers.

DO I HAVE TO JOIN THE RAMBLERS BEFORE I CAN WALK WITH THE GROUP?

No. Appreciating that you may be new to the Rambling, you can take part in 2 or 3 walks before having to commit to joining. Details of membership charges and an application to join are to be found in our TRAIL magazine, copies of which are available on request.

ARE DOGS PERMITTED ON WALKS

Dogs are not allowed on walks over land where stock may be grazing or where car sharing is involved. In other cases dogs may be allowed at the leader’s discretion.
