Sunday 24 August B+ walk OS sheet 73 Circular from Peebles to Jedderfield, to Meldon Burn, to lyne, to Kirkton Manor, to Cademuir Hill fort, back to Peebles. length 9 miles, climb 2000ft. Sunday 31 August B walk OS sheet 74 Circular from Yarrowford, Minchmoor Road, Harelaw, SUW, Three Brethren, Old Broadmeadows, return to Yarrowford. length 8 miles, climb 1600ft. Sunday 7 September B walk OS sheet 78 Circular from Devil's Beef Tub to source of Tweed to Earl's Hough to Barncorse Knowe to Spout Crag and return to Devil's Beef Tub. length 8 miles, 650ft. climb. Sunday 14 September B+ walk OS sheet 66 Pentland Hills. Flotterstone via Kirkton and Bonaly reservoir to Bonaly. Then Torduff reservoir, Clubbiedean reservoir, Mid Kinleith and Maiden's Cleugh to Kirkton and return. Circular 11 miles, climb 1300ft. Sunday 21 September A walk OS sheet 73 Circular from Traquair to Taniel Hill to Glengaber to Deucher Hope to Yarrow to Blackgrain Rig and return. Sunday 28 September A walk Circular from Carfraemill to lammerlaw and return. length 17 miles, climb 1750ft. N.B. KCP at 09.00 or at car park opposite Carfraemill Hotel at 10.00. Saturday 4 to Sunday 5 October Overnight stay in Borrowdale area. Ullscarf and Watendlath from Rothwait. length 10 miles, climb 2,300ft. N.B. KCP 7.00am Sunday 5 Octaber C walk OS sheet 44 Philiphaugh Salmon Viewing Centre, Tibbie Tomson's Grove, Harehead Hill, Could. length 8 miles, nominal climb in middle. Easy walk along paths and tracks with some open country. (Excellent cafe at Salmon Viewing Centre for tea and cake after the walk. With luck at this time of year we should see salmon leaping up the ladder.) Sunday 12 October B walk OS sheet 66 Circular walk from Rosewell via Carrington, South Esk Path to Trotters Bridge, Aikendean. length 11 miles, nominal climb. KCP at 10.00 or at start 10.30. Sunday 17 October C walk OS sheet 66 Penicuik estate. length 5 miles, negligible climb. Sunday 26 October C walk OS sheet 74 Circular from St Boswells beside golf course to Mertoun Bridge, across and along Tweed to Dryburgh Abbey, to Wallace Monument, over suspension bridge, and return to St Boswells. length 5 miles, climb 500ft. |
