North Berwick and District GroupHave a look at our new Haddington & North Berwick District Walkers Facebook page
We are a medium sized amiable group whose membership is mostly drawn from North Berwick and Haddington and the surrounding villages. We do the usual range of A, B and C walks each weekend throughout the year, and in addition usually arrange about 3 social events and 3 walking weekends every year. We have a good relationship with the East Lothian County Rangers and many of our members help as Path Wardens and on working parties to repair the area’s footpaths.
Most of our members prefer Sunday walks, but Saturday bus services are usually so much better that we often use Saturday if bus transport forms part of the walk. Our two meeting points are (1) North Berwick Station car park (NT546851) and (2) outside the Council Offices in Court Street Haddington (NT510738).
Buses run between Edinburgh and Dunbar to these two meeting points but for most walks they don’t start early enough to be useful. Most people either walk the short distances to the meeting points or take cars to assist with transport from these two locations to the start of the walk. Free weekend parking is available, at or close to both meeting points.
Where transport is shared we normally make a contribution towards the drivers’ fuel costs. The suggested contribution per passenger is indicated as “Cost by car” in the programme. If petrol prices change suddenly, leaders will be advised if a different rate should be applied.
Anyone wishing to bring a dog on a walk must consult the leader in advance. Where permitted, they are the responsibility of the owner and must be kept under strict control to avoid nuisance to farm stock and other walkers. If cars are being used for transport, out of consideration, dogs should be carried in their owner’s car.
General enquiries should be made to our Secretary, Mrs M.Allan 01620 824938.
If you would like to go on one or more of our walks or other events please contact us identifying the event(s) and we'll email you back with details of how to contact the Walk Leader. Please allow a couple of days for us to reply.WALKS PROGRAMME – April to October 2016
